What we do
Promoting the rule of law and protecting human rights
Our mission is carried out through three key areas of focus, supported by training and research.
01
Legal expertise and advocacy
Expert legal support on emerging human rights challenges, particularly those affecting jurists in Turkey and beyond: advice and representation before domestic courts, including the Turkish Constitutional Court, and before international bodies such as the European Court of Human Rights and United Nations mechanisms. Several cases initiated by Volunteer Jurists are pending before the UN Human Rights Treaty Bodies.

02
Asylum and legal assistance
Defending the rights of asylum seekers with legal assistance throughout the asylum process, so that their cases are effectively presented and their voices heard by the relevant authorities.

03
Refugee integration and support
Helping refugees and their families settle into Swiss society, in daily life and at work, through projects and collaborations with existing initiatives.

Volunteer Jurists Academy
Training in human rights law
Seminars and certificate programmes on human rights, judicial independence and the separation of powers, open to jurists and students.
Research and advocacy
Capacity building
Research, legal analysis and public statements on issues affecting jurists, shared with international institutions and the public.
