Volunteer Jurists is a non-profit, non-governmental human rights association dedicated to promoting respect for the rule of law and protecting human rights worldwide. Its mission is carried out through three key areas of focus:
1. Legal Expertise and Advocacy
At the heart of its work, the association provides expert legal support to address emerging human rights challenges, particularly those affecting jurists in Turkey and beyond. Comprising a team of human rights law specialists, Volunteer Jurists offers legal advice and representation in cases before domestic courts—including the Turkish Constitutional Court—as well as international bodies such as the European Court of Human Rights and United Nations mechanisms. The association also engages in research, advocacy, and capacity-building initiatives to strengthen human rights protections. Notably, several cases initiated by Volunteer Jurists are currently pending before the UN Human Rights Treaty Bodies.
2. Asylum and Legal Assistance
The association is committed to defending the rights of asylum seekers by providing legal assistance throughout the asylum process. It supports individuals in navigating national and international procedures, ensuring that their cases are effectively presented and their voices heard by the relevant authorities.
3. Refugee Integration and Support
Beyond legal assistance, Volunteer Jurists actively works to facilitate the integration of refugees and their families into Swiss society. Through various projects and collaborations, the association helps newcomers adapt to both daily life and professional environments, contributing to existing initiatives and developing new programs to support their successful integration.
